This demo reel includes a montage of Julie Watts’ award-winning work as a Video Journalist/Multi-Media Journalist.
In an effort to tell stories that might not otherwise be told, Julie often finds herself behind the camera.
In 2010, she shot, edited and produced “Outsourced: Silicon Valley Students in India.” The series followed 25 local high school students on an immersion trip to India. “Outsourced” was named Best Feature Story by the Associated Press and earned Julie the title of Best Video Journalist/Multi-Media Journalist by the RTDNA.
In 2008, Julie traveled to Sierra Leone where she shot, edited and produced her first VJ/MMJ series on blood diamonds. “From Sacramento to Sierra Leone” aired on PBS and won two Telly Awards.
Julie also won the first-ever “Multi-Media Emmy Award” for an interactive online piece she produced about Kenya’s violent 2007 elections. With a master’s degree in online journalism, Julie enjoys turning compelling broadcast stories into an interactive online experience.
